Howick Historical Village
On Thursday 14th June our class traveled back in time to 1830 in Howick Aukland NewZeland. We went there to see what life was like back then when ladies went first, When boys were called gentlemen, and when the kitchen smelled like smoke.. When I walked in to the grounds I felt like my life was hard and when I walked out I thought to myself "Man we have it easy".
Frist, off I learned that back in 1830 children were very quiet and they did not talk too much. When I got to the kitchen we saw a cow leg hanging from the ceiling and I thought wow that has to be rotten.
All most the second I stepped into the kitchen I could smell smoke and I knew where there is smoke there is fire. I sat down on the allocated seat and mediately Mrs.White the lovely lady in charge of the kitchen said I was the fire girl. I quickly learned that that meant that I had to make sure that the fire didn't burn out.
I got wood from the porch and used a red-hot poker to shove it into the stove there was an ashtray underneath to catch all the ashes.
Then we went to school. it was lovely. I felt as if I was at Hogwarts Miss. Halom was an exceptional teacher and I would have thought that she has a quality degree in English and geography I wanted to stay longer but it was time for outdoor games.
Overall this trip might have been my favorite trip so far I loved every second and soaked up every ounce of information I could get my greedy hands on.
